Our History

Trimline was founded over 35 years ago, on a very simple premise: to sell products that make our customers’ job easier, in a customer-centric environment and to always deliver value. This same attitude and approach still drives us today.

  • 1980
    Founder Bruce Hazell left grammar school and became an apprentice bricklayer in London. Whilst learning his trade he spotted a niche in the market for manual tile cutters that didn’t exist in the UK market. Research ensued and a German manufacturer was identified.
  • Our Vision
    To inspire lifes spaces, using stone and tiles, that are not merely functional, but are in fact the best places to relax, reinvigorate and reenergize.
  • 1982
    Having identified a manufacturer and got a sample made, this was shown to a local Hardware shop to gauge interest. The interest was such that, with help from family, Bruce hired a van to collect a load of tile cutters from Germany.
  • 1983
    Initial sales started from the boot of Mrs Hazell’s Renault 5 car. The family house was used to store stock and the back garden was used for overflow. A target was set to have one in every tile shop in the UK.
  • 1985
    Demand grew for new alternative building tools and Trimline began identifying and sourcing new products in line with customer demand. Innovation played a major part in business growth during this period. During 1985 Trimline introduced PVC tile trim to the UK and spotted electric tile cutters at an exhibition which proved to be a great success.
  • 1988
    The building trade served as a very good base to grow the business from and gave Bruce a voice of experience – however it soon became clear that he could no longer productively divide his time, so in 1985 Bruce left the building trade to join Bryson Products whilst growing Trimline further.
  • 1994
    Having grown out of using a residential house and also the Bryson Products warehouse Bruce bought an old Post Office as premises to trade from. Whilst the new premises suited the business at that time, deliveries were problematic – containers had to be guided in by police outriders.
  • 1995
    With new premises acquired and the full time attention of the founder Bruce Hazell, many notable customers started doing business with Trimline. To help future proof the business a site at Kangley Bridge Road was bought.
  • 2000
    New fit for purpose offices at Kangley Bridge Road open for business. The new premises encompasses warehousing, on site car parking and excellent transport links into central London.
  • 2008
    As the business enjoyed years of continued success, more family members joined, keeping the traditional values at the core of the organization, driving Trimline forward.
  • 2013
    Internal re-structuring sees new personnel join the senior management team, bringing fresh ideas and direction to the table,
  • 2015
    The business rebranded and repositioned in December 2015 to reflect it’s success and scale. This was a significant milestone in the business that has benefited the company externally and internally. A further focus on the contractor market was made to realise growth ambitions.
  • 2016
    A new 65,000 sq ft warehousing is purchased adjacent to M25 to facilitate further growth, and will be developed into a state of the art warehouse. To enhance the buying experience a new online ordering platform is been launched along with enhanced marketing collateral to support the rebrand.
  • 2019
    Another exciting year of progress sees Trimline complete work on many landmark projects across the UK. Trimline also scoops the Best E-Commerce Website at TTA Awards, proving that Trimline continues to be at the forefront of the industry.

Increasing Market Education

We believe we have a responsibility to bring increased education to the tiling industry, ensuring tiling excellence and always looking for better methodology.  Having recently invested in new training facilities and interactive technologies, sees us roll out a series of workshops and informative training sessions, CPD sessions and talks, for all our clients across all our sectors.  Designed to be both informative and educational, trainees will get hands-on with products to gain confidence and learn recognized best practice and industry standards.

Delivering Best Practice

With offices and warehousing based on the edge of the M25, London is on our doorstep. This gives easy access to the city and nationwide coverage.  Trimline operates several different vehicle types to ensure that we meet all our customer needs and expectations. Providing jobs for over 60 people, we ship out over 50 tons per day. A well-structured operations department ensures that we route our vehicles in the most efficient way, by using a route optimization system that allows us to reduce our emission output. All our vehicles are compliant with ULEZ.
